Tottenham Boss Thomas Frank Labels Vicario Critics 'Not True Real Fans'
Fulham Begin Powerfully to Beat Spurs and Increase Pressure on the Manager
Spurs supporters who booed goalkeeper Vicario were told later "they cannot be true Spurs fans" by manager Frank.
Spurs let in a pair of goals in the first initial moments to lose 2-1 to Fulham, registering their 10th top-flight at home defeat of the year.
But the primary topic of discussion was Fulham's second goal when Vicario lost the ball well beyond his box.
The goalkeeper ventured out to handle a long ball and carried the ball towards the sideline.
However, rather than kicking it into touch, the Italy international spun and tried to clear, but lost his footing as the ball skimmed off Harry Wilson and was controlled by Josh King.
The forward laid the ball off to Wales midfield player Harry Wilson, who bent a shot into the net from the touchline recorded at 36.6 yards.
Seconds afterwards when the ball went to Vicario again, a number of Tottenham fans jeered him.
Spurs were booed off at half-time, with the club 2-0 behind, and once more at the final whistle.
A particular of those jeering episodes really irritated the manager.
"I heard some of our fans apparently booed the incident and jeered following, which, in my opinion is completely unjustifiable," the Danish manager commented about the fans' reaction to his shot-stopper.
"[They] cannot be true Tottenham fans that act that way. Fair enough booing after the game, fine, but when we are playing, we are supporting each other, we are behind each other moving ahead."
Tete had handed the visitors a fourth-minute lead before Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Spurs in an better second period performance.
Former Premier League goalkeeper Hart stated that the next score was "totally preventable".
"I do understand the supporters' frustration," Hart continued. "I know the role Vicario is playing. He's a excellent squad member, he is a real leader in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your decisions.
"The keeper was heavily implicated in what turned out to be the winning score."

Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Vicario After the Match
Italian national team Vicario is in his third campaign with Spurs.
The 29-year-old stated after the game that he had to take the criticism.
"That score was a mistake of mine, I accept accountability for it," he commented.
"The intent was to clear the ball long and I simply hit the ball in a bad way. It was an more difficult challenge to climb."
He stated receiving jeers "is part of the game".
"I'm a big man, how can I respond?" he added. "We cannot be influenced by the situation in the stands. Supporters have the entitlement to do what they think.
"It's on the team to remain increasingly calm, to concentrate on ourselves. We are missing in composure and calmness to reverse results. This match is a bad loss and it's tough to take."
'I Was Surprised Nobody Went Back to the Line'
Despite the keeper's mistake, it was not an easy score for Wilson to convert.
Actually it was the next longest-range Premier League goal of the campaign – following Tyler Adams' 43.3 metre strike for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which interestingly too came on Saturday.
Wilson stated he was "a little bit taken aback" that he still had an open net to aim for.
Ten moments elapsed between Vicario exiting of his box and the midfielder shooting – which was five seconds after the clearance.
"It seemed to me like the goalkeeper was out of the box for ages," he remarked.
"It amazed me none of the defenders returned to the goal line. When none of them defended the goal, my interest sparked somewhat.
"[Destiny] Udogie fell as well, which allowed me a bit of extra opportunity. After that it was solely about attempting to achieve the correct connection and get it on target. I felt a good feeling, as soon as it left my foot, that it was heading in."

Jeering While We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unacceptable - the Manager
While Vicario's mistake dominated headlines, this was an all-round poor day for Tottenham to extend their home ground woes.
This was their tenth at home defeat of 2025 in the league, a joint team record matching nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.
The side still have home games against Frank's old side the Bees and title holders the Reds to play before the end of the year.
Just a single of those victories have occurred after Frank replaced Ange Postecoglou in the summer.
"If you are behind 2-0 following six minutes, there is a mountain to climb," said Frank.
"During in a bad spell, all aspects appears to work against you as well – the first was a deflected attempt, the second is a error from the keeper.
"The outcome puts us in a place where we have suffered another game. Each fixture has a single narrative, today we lost in the early stages.
"We just need to keep working. The second half was much better and hopefully something we can utilize to learn."
Spurs have been defeated in four straight at home London derbies for the first time in the top division.
And they are recording 9.5 attempts and 3.2 efforts on goal per game in the division – their lowest averages on record in a single campaign (dating back to the 2003-04 season).
Ex- Cottagers midfielder Danny Murphy stated that the manager has to endure the criticism.
"He's got accept the stick," the pundit remarked. "He has accepted a high profile role at a huge football club with massive anticipation. There is pressure and responsibility that accompanies that.
"Their showings at their stadium have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
