Tom Clancy's The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG

The intense universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division is being translated into a tabletop role-playing experience. A collaboration was established to develop a TTRPG that explores the franchise’s apocalyptic setting. This initiative has been announced, with a funding drive planned to begin in April of 2026.

"This endeavor aims to deliver the series' unique suspense, tactical intensity, and iconic world-building to the tabletop, offering fans a fresh avenue to engage with The Division through deep narrative and mission-based gameplay," reads an official release.

Launch products are set to feature a starter set, core rulebooks, a GM screen, figurines, and several premium versions.

Exploring The Division's Apocalyptic World

In this setting, a lethal pathogen called Green Poison was released in NYC, plunging the United States into turmoil. As the pandemic escalates, society crumbles and violent factions emerge, transforming the urban landscape into a battlefield. To preserve order, the government {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of undercover operatives. That’s where the agents come in.

Work on the RPG has been in progress for about several years, and it is reportedly finished. The upcoming Kickstarter campaign will serve as a preorder system to access a wider market, particularly in North America. Production will start immediately following the campaign, with shipping projected for later in 2026.

An Innovative Tactical System: The GRIS System

An early look at the system confirms it employs d10s exclusively through its proprietary GRIS system, encouraging a fast-paced and tactical style. Agents leverage abilities to assemble small dice pools, usually from one to five d10s.

  • Instead of adding results together, players choose a single “resolution die” from the group.
  • This dice is then compared against a set challenge number.
  • Rolling a natural 10 grants additional bonuses, such as extra damage or enhanced aid.

Engagements Emphasize Tactical Placement and Situational Insight

Battles prioritize positioning and situational awareness, reflecting the video games. Elements like taking cover, height advantage, or visibility have a direct impact dice rolls. This mechanic is designed to favor teamwork and clever tactics instead of raw numbers.

A Novel Wound System

The way injuries is managed introduces a interesting thematic twist. Operatives have a wound threshold; taking heavy hits weakens their effectiveness by lowering the size of their dice pool.

  1. At zero health, an operative is downed, but they’re not unconscious.
  2. They may still move and perform restricted acts, emulating the "downed" state seen in many shooter games.
  3. Any player in this state must roll on a trauma table, potentially gaining lingering conditions like trauma or crippling injuries.

A Ready-to-Play Adventure

A free Quickstart Guide will be released soon. It contains a ready-to-play introductory scenario titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, players spearhead the hunt for a lost doctor squad and must thwart an attack by the violent Rikers gang, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. Further information and the full range of offerings are expected to be detailed near the campaign launch.
