The Streaming Platform is Producing a Popular Game TV Show from the Producers of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The most recent action-packed title that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for delighting in action and insanity with similar excitement, all while presenting gripping, ideologically themed tales. It’s no surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry limited-run show pulled in two producers whose creations have represented all of those things.
What to Expect
Inspired by Ubisoft's hit video game series, the self-contained anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' structure by having a fresh location and group of personalities in every instalment.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series via their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, engrossing, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.
“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, entrusting us with one of the most famous video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX team always encourages me with their constant confidence and assistance.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style program. Each game is a variation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” noted Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can shift from year to year, while always delving into the core of people through this intricate and unpredictable lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to partner with Rob and bring our common unconventional, visionary approach to the television.”
A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
