The Blue Jays Claim World Series Showdown With defending champion Dodgers
The outfielder previously helped the Astros securing the World Series in the 2017 season.
The Toronto Blue Jays reached their initial World Series following 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the ALCS.
Down by two runs, Springer smashed a three-run blast in the seventh inning, propelling the Toronto squad in the majors to a 4-3 series triumph in the seven-game series. They will now face the Dodgers, holders of the reigning title, in the anticipated World Series.
"I'm just so happy for this squad, the city, the nation," commented Springer, a star of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an amazing experience."
The veteran has now slugged twenty-three playoff homers, placing him third all-time behind Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).
"I can't think of another player on planet Earth that I'd choose in that moment besides him with his post-season brilliance," noted manager John Schneider.
The Mariners, despite leading the early in the series, continue to be the one club that has never reached in a championship series.
Wilson commented "without a doubt that it hurts" in the wake of his club's elimination at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their performance throughout the year.
"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we had to come out on the losing end of this game," he continued.
The Blue Jays won the World Series on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the first game on the upcoming Friday.
