19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces
A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid period, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.
Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-term mentor his previous coach.
Now working with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.
This represents his first trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court since that period of 2023.
Victory also means he has secured 21 victories at 21 distinct events.
"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters at once, so to win a trophy is really nice," stated world number 14 Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in that event previously this season.
The player's defensive approach and regular outbursts on court had caused some to question if his capacity to perform at the elite level was concluded.
But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete positively, backed up by an improved service.
The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.
The pair swapped service breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his initial ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a third set.
Moutet saved 4 early break points in a tight deciding set before Medvedev broke to 15 to close out the victory.
Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the net, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
