Recent Particulars Emerge Concerning the Location of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Remains
Fresh particulars have surfaced concerning the tragic passing of acclaimed film director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their residence home on Sunday.
A Discovery
As detailed in an account quoting a family associate, a therapist scheduled for an appointment initially became concerned after failing to get inside the home. The practitioner then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.
After gaining access to the house, Romy found her father's body. Accounts indicate she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Her roommate who had gone with her contacted 911. Following this, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Charges
Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is now being held and denied bail.
Disputed Reports
The person close to the family also disputed several initial details. They said that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick resided in a separate structure on the property, she did not identify him as a suspect at that time.
The source also pushed back against circulated suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "concerned" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation also extends to reports of reportedly "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a party hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery. While the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "blow-up" between the two were not correct.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
As stated by law enforcement sources, the coroner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some accounts suggested the state of their bodies implied they had been dead for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the residence. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not received medical clearance and would be unable to attend until Wednesday at the earliest.
