PSG Overcomes Marseille in a Shootout to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious trophy on 14 separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a dramatic leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the match featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the French Cup winners after the French winger found the net in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side struck twice in the closing moments to seize a surprise advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital equaliser in the final seconds to force the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for PSG to complete a convincing penalty victory.

The record champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
