Liverpool's Star Issues Statement to Teammates, Discloses Curtis Jones
Jones has revealed that the Egyptian forward apologised to the entire Liverpool squad in the wake of the uproar from his televised remarks.
The Incident
The striker was dropped from a vital match following criticising the club and suggesting his rapport with Arne Slot had soured.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, I apologise.’”
The manager has previously declined to comment publicly on whether he got an explanation from the veteran striker.
Looking Ahead
He emphasized that the team's response stayed normal. “Nothing about him changed, he was smiling and we all treated him normally,” the midfielder explained.
He also suggested that a competitor wanting to play is preferable. “I get that there are different methods you can go about things,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just be on the bench, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
Team Form
Their results have been impressive in the matches since the interview fallout. Jones believes the Salah's words were not designed to cause disruption.
“If passion has boiled over, the source has been from a place of caring,” Jones concluded. “We’re past that now and we’re uniting strongly, getting results and securing victories.”
