Iran Reports Strike on US Base in Bahrain, Amid Regional Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the American officials has remained silent.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - reported they have intercepted missiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.
It said wreckage landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
