Brian Eno Calls On Support to Send Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Festive Top Spot.
A charity drive is aiming to propel a cultural melody to the top of the UK charts. The project aims to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to support Palestinians during the holidays. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.”
Powerful Theme of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.
“The song holds a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti explained. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we seek to lead a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Featured Artists
The single was laid down in the wake of a major charity concert held in late summer. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the piece was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.
The diverse array of performers featured on Lullaby encompasses a selection of prominent voices from the music world. All took part in the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a significant sum for humanitarian aid.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was crafted by a group of producers and composers. The track showcases a mix of the traditional Arabic lyrics with contemporary English verses.
The group managing the campaign have stated that their objective is to generate maximum funds for a specific fund. These proceeds will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a figure said. “We aim for as much as possible. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”
The situation in the area was described as its widespread damage, with a vast majority of infrastructure said to be in ruins or severely impacted.
“In that context, a couple of million is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is above all spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating the human dimension of the story.”
The song is set to be released at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
