Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a statement.
Officers state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then found multiple other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials say initial examinations indicate the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; authorities are not yet aware of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they added.
Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for tips.
A senior official commented the vandalism rendered him speechless and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, referring to the death of nine victims by a assailant targeting residents of migrant background in five years prior.
