AC Shadows Reveals Bizarre AoT Crossover for Holiday Season
In a unexpected partnership that challenges usual expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing free extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Questline Uncovered
According to the authorized announcement, "An unusual confrontation draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where hints of prohibited ceremonies and fearsome changes echo through the darkness." The narrative presents a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a hidden group.
The adventure centers on "bizarre experiments and a fearsome enemy" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Changes
The teaser highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview concludes with a striking scene showing a character, probably the captive, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Rewards and Additional Content
Players who finish the adventure will obtain an exclusive katana together with multiple objects concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Update
This update also introduces the game's third no-cost story episode, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature abilities: Naoe debuts a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also features a original environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This marks scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime properties. The series earlier showcased a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
